The Pantheon Project
We've been developing with Drupal since 2003, back when scaling Drupal meant fiddling with memory allocation or buying a bigger server. Today, cloud services like Amazon EC2 and Rackspace Cloud enable a whole new class of Drupal hosting. The Pantheon Project is an ongoing effort to push Drupal to the fore-front of this emerging industry. We're combining the best of both worlds and unleashing Drupal, the worlds leading content management, in the cloud.
Our flagship product is Mercury, a cloud hosting environment engineered to run Drupal unbelievably fast. It can serve two-hundred times more pages per second and generate pages three times faster than standard hosting services. We've integrated, borrowed, tuned and tweaked the fastest open-source hosting technologies available so that they can at last work perfectly with Drupal at the click of a button.
Mercury is open-source, developers can download our machine images or browse our source code repository here. It is also available as an on-demand service from us as well as our hosting partners. It is our first endevour and we have a lot more planned for this coming year. Follow along on twitter or our mailing-list and feel free to get in touch if you have any questions.
