PANTHEON For Developers

PANTHEON is an open source project. We are actively collaborating with the community of developers around key technology components such as Pressflow, Varnish and BCFG2, as well as key development efforts in cloud computing like libcloud and Alestic. We are also of course highly engaged with the Drupal universe via our modules, community group, participation in other important initiatives like Aegir, and of course the 24/7 global conversation that is IRC. We hope other developers and system administrators will find our work useful and helpful for their own projects. We got here by standing on the shoulders of giants, and invite you to climb up on ours.

All of the distinct configuration necessary to run Mercury is available in our launchpad project repository. For best results, you should set up BCFG2, grab our config files by checking out a branch of the BZR repository, and let the configuration manager do the rest. You can have your own Mercury instance up and running in minutes, and by updating the BZR branch you can stay current with future Mercury developments.

If you like to do it yourself, specific instructions on "rolling your own", see this wiki page.

Here's where to go for more specific needs:

Finally, we encourage you to document and publish your particular uses of Mercury, to use our technology and techniques as a base in your own projects and initiatives, to pick and choose whatever works for you and run with it. This initiative is possible because of the openness and generosity of countless developers who have taken the time to explain their successes (and failures) to the world. We hope to continue that tradition. Let us know what you're up to via twitter or the group, and together we'll push things forward.
